A few useful answers

Do I need an account or Apple Health?

No account is required. Apple Health is optional: you can enter your goals and bodyweight manually. Food search needs an internet connection, while your saved journal and timers work locally.

Can I use only nutrition or only the notebook?

Yes. Choose either module or both during onboarding. Change your choice later in Settings > Modules. Hiding a module keeps its existing local data; it does not revoke Health permissions.

How do I plan a workout without choosing its targets yet?

In Notebook, choose Plan a workout and select a routine and date. The session is marked To prepare. Open it later to prepare repetitions, hold times, variations and load using the previous completed session as a reference. Ready sessions have a play button.

Can I log timed holds manually?

Yes. Enter the seconds you held and your actual RPE, then validate the set. Starting the timer is optional.

How does weekly load work?

Advanced mode shows a rolling seven-day window from the chosen date. Secondary muscles count at half weight. Timed holds count as half a set and each second contributes 0.4 repetition equivalents. Tonnage uses validated results with actual RPE above 6 and the available effective load. These are training conventions, not physiological measurements.

How can I reconnect Apple Health?

Use the Health controls in Settings, then review Journy’s category permissions in Apple Health or iOS Settings. Nutrition can read energy, workouts, weight and body composition, and write nutrition for meals you save. The notebook uses readable bodyweight for load calculations. Missing readings may mean no data or no access.

Why are calorie estimates or widget values missing?

End-of-day estimates need readable past energy data. With permission, Journy looks at up to 30 previous days and compares the same weekdays. Widgets refresh when iOS allows it, so they may lag behind the app. Open Journy to refresh the view.

Why are food search and scanning temporarily unavailable?

Open Food Facts lookup needs internet access and has request limits. Wait for the countdown before searching or scanning again. You can create a food manually without this service.

What happens when I analyse a meal photo?

This optional beta prepares a prompt for an external AI service. You choose whether to share the photo and copy the prompt, then paste the result back into Journy and check the suggested foods. Your Health history is not attached. Estimates can be inaccurate; review portions and ingredients before saving.

Can I back up or transfer everything?

Settings > Nutrition > Data can export and import nutrition data as a file. It does not export your workout notebook. The nutrition database and workout journal are excluded from system backups and do not automatically sync through iCloud. Keep a nutrition export privately before deleting or changing devices. Apple Health sync is separate.

Why can’t I hear timer cues?

Check media volume and the selected audio output. An active timer can mix with music and play cues while the screen is locked. A call or disconnected headphones pauses playback; resume in Journy. Force-quitting the app stops the timer.

How do I delete my data?

Use the available delete controls for individual records. To remove all local app data, delete Journy and its data, rather than offloading it. Delete any exports separately. Manage records already written to Apple Health in Health; removing Journy does not automatically remove them.
